Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Which products are being recalled?

A: This recall involves Vornado SRTH Small Room Tower Heaters manufactured in July 2022 and sold between November and December 2022 with a “JUL22” date code and “TYPE SRTH” printed on the silver rating label located on the underside of the product.

The electric space heaters are black and measure about 12.5 inches high by 6 inches wide by 6 inches in diameter and have two heat settings (low and high) and a fan only/no heat setting. “Vornado” with a red “V” behind it is located on the front of the unit.

Only units with a date code of “JUL22” are included in this recall. The date code is printed on the silver rating label located on the bottom of the heater as the first five digits of the serial number.

Q: Why are the SRTH Small Room Tower Heaters with JUL22 date code being recalled?

A: SRTH Heaters with JUL22 date code have a miswiring due to a manufacturing error which can cause the tower heater to overheat, posing a fire hazard. Your safety is our first concern, so please stop use, unplug your heater, and participate in the recall.

Q: How do I know if my SRTH is affected by the recall?

A: Check the silver label on bottom of heater. If “TYPE SRTH” and date code of “JUL22” appear on the silver rating label located on the bottom of the heater, your heater is recalled. The date code will appear as the first five digits of the serial number printed on the silver label. Any date code other than JUL22 is NOT affected by this recall.

The easiest way to be sure is to enter the information about your heater on the recall website for confirmation.

Q: Are any of the recalled units still being made?

A: Yes, Vornado is continuing to manufacture SRTH heaters. Only units of the SRTH Small Room Tower Heater with a “JUL22” date code are included in this recall. Units with any other date code other than JUL22 are not subject to the recall.

Q: When and where were these heaters sold?

A: Ace, True Value, and other retailers nationwide and online at Amazon.com and other retailers from November 2022 through December 2022 for about $50.

Q: I no longer have the purchase receipt for my recalled heater. Am I still eligible for the free recall remedy?
