Q: Which products are being recalled?

A: All VH101 Personal Vortex Heaters sold between 2009 and 2018 in all colors: coral orange, grayed jade, cinnamon, fig, red, ice white and black are being recalled.


The heaters measure about 7.2 inches long by 7.8 inches wide by 7.10 inches high and have two heat settings (low and high) and a fan only/no heat setting. “Vornado” with a “V” behind it is printed on the front of the unit.


Q: Why are the VH101 Personal Heaters being recalled?

A: Vornado is voluntarily recalling the VH101 heaters because they can overheat when in use, posing fire and burn hazards. The Vornado team is dedicated to ensuring that we can stand behind each and every product that comes into your home, and we strive to earn your total satisfaction. We encourage everyone to participate in this VH101 recall. We want to thank you for your loyalty, patience and cooperation.


Q: How do I know if my VH101 is affected by the recall?

A: Check the silver label on bottom of heater. If “TYPE VH101” appears on the silver label, your heater is recalled.


Q: When and where were these heaters sold?

A: Approximately 350,000 units were available at Bed Bath & Beyond, Home Depot, Menards, Orchard Supply, Target and other stores nationwide and online at Amazon.com, Target.com, Vornado.com and other websites from August 2009 through March 2018 for about $30.


Q: I no longer have the purchase receipt for my recalled heater. Am I still eligible for the free replacement heater or refund?

A: Yes, as long as you still have the heater, you can participate in the recall. The required photographs of your disabled heater or your returned heater will serve as the proof-of-purchase. Please go to website and register for the recall.


Q: How do I participate/register for the recall?

A: First- PLEASE STOP USE IMMEDIATELY AND UNPLUG YOUR HEATER.

You can register for the recall using this website, click HOME button at top right of screen to take you to the first page of the recall registration. Please provide the requested information and upload a digital photo for verification when prompted. If you prefer more personal attention, you may call Vornado Recall Center directly at 855-215-5131 to process the registration over the phone, Monday – Friday 8am -5pm (CST) or email VH101recall@vornado.com. Once your registration is complete and verified, you can choose between a $30 refund and a free replacement heater, including free shipping.


Q: How long will it take to receive a refund?

A: Once your registration is complete and verified, you will receive your $30 refund by check within about 3-4 weeks.


Q: What kind of replacement heater will be provided?

A. The replacement heater is the Vornado VMH10 Personal Metal Heater which retails for about $49. Once your registration is complete and verified, you will receive your replacement heater within about 3-4 weeks.


Q: What if I am not able to provide a digital photo for verification?

A: If you cannot disable the unit and/or provide digital photo for verification, you can return the heater to Vornado for verification. Please call customer service at 855-215-5131 or email VH101recall@vornado.com to obtain a pre-paid shipping label and further instructions.


Q: My heater appears to be running fine. Can I continue to use my VH101?

A: No, PLEASE STOP USE IMMEDIATELY and process your recall registration.


Q: What if I own more than one of these heaters?

A: All VH101 heaters are part of the recall. If you own more than one VH101, please process each unit individually. If you own a significant number of VH101 heaters, please contact Vornado Recall Center at (855) 215-5131 Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm CST or email VH101recall@vornado.com to make special arrangements.


Q: My unit looks exactly like this, but the silver label says TYPE VH101-CA. Is my heater part of this recall?

A: No, only Type VH101 heaters are part of the recall. While the VH101-CA heater looks the same on the outside to the VH101, it is in fact different from the VH101 and not part of this recall. The VH101-CA is safe for your continued use.


Q: My unit looks exactly like this, but the silver label says TYPE VH202. Is my heater part of this recall?

A: No, only Type VH101 heaters are part of the recall. While the VH202 heater looks the same on the outside to the VH101, it is in fact different from the VH101 and not part of this recall. The VH202 is safe for your continued use.


Q:My unit looks exactly like this, but the silver label says TYPE VH110 or MVH. Is my heater part of this recall?

A: No, only TYPE VH101 heaters are part of this recall. VH110 and MVH heaters are a larger size than these VH101 heaters. If you have a VH110, heater, please click here to ensure your VH110 is not part of an active recall on units produced in 2013.


Q: I only have a P.O. Box for delivery. Can you ship via U.S. Post?

A: Yes, but please contact the Vornado Recall Center directly at 855-215-5131 or email VH101recall@vornado.com to process your registration over the phone, Monday – Friday 8am -5pm (CST).


Q: Is there a time limit on this recall?

A: No, but please stop use immediately and complete your recall registration. We will replace it or refund at our first opportunity, but please discontinue use now for your continued safety.


Q: I have had a fire / personal injury / property damage due to a Vornado heater. What should I do?

A: Please call Vornado Recall Center at (855) 215-5131 Monday – Friday, 8am to 5pm CST to discuss the incident directly. Please be prepared to provide information on the details of incident, any damage reports, and any actions taken in response.


Q: I live outside of the U.S., why do I only have an option for a $30 refund?

A: We are only able to offer a $30 USD refund to those affected VH101 owners who live outside of the U.S. Replacement heaters are not available outside the U.S. due to import regulations.
